| Everyone is given a gift, a talent. The variety is innumerable. I have been lucky enough to join the fellowship of artisans. A group, by its nature, that must create. Its not an option, its a lifestyle. Even without training an artist must still create. When one outlet of creativity is not available another replaces it. Many create in multiple areas simultaneously. I write, paint, make dolls and bears and their accessories, and enjoy family life, with all its complexities.
As I read the biographies of other artists I realize that we all share common beliefs. There is the need to be creative, the desire to experiment, the driving force of the object that we are creating, almost as if it is dictating what it will become, and the wonder of the results. My parents taught me to look for the potential in everything, use my imagination, be curious and observant and read to expand my knowledge. I believe that inspiration comes from living. We are the sum total of all our experiences. The more one experiences, the greater the sources of inspiration. A person's style comes from all aspects of their lives and reflects their attitudes and choices. My figures are a reflection of myself. My goal is to create little people that connect with viewers heart and transports them away, if only for a moment, from todays stressful world. Each doll tells a story, which is different for each viewer. The viewer is encouraged to create her own story thus sharing in the creative process. They are meant to stimulate the imagination. I love making my little people and sharing my own stories about each character and their embellishments. Enjoy these characters and let their spirits transport you to the delicate alter-world that co-exists in our fantasies. |
